Review Policy

Our review policy is pretty simple. We love to read. If you wrote it and we have time, we probably want to read it. Any genre, any publisher, any length.

With that said, there are a few caveats. There are only two of us and one of us is 9 and the other works full-time. Our backlog is massive, but if we are interested, we will do our best to give you an estimated date before you send us the book.

Our goal here is to provide a site that is accessible to all. Everything from children’s books to adult romance is fine BUT we will not share blurbs, excerpts, covers, or teasers that cross the line from PG-13. If your book, in print, would be shocking for a teacher to have on her desk during the work day (at first glance – we are open to anything between the pages), we will not share it. Please remain respectful of this.

In addition, please review our bios to see what we prefer and what we will not read (it’s a short list).

You can email us at booktrollrealescape@gmail.com with some info about your book and we will see what we can coordinate! If you need any help with promos, please check our services page.

RATING SYSTEM

Reviews are subjective. In addition, a five-star from one of us could be a two or three from another. We promise you this – if it’s a negative review and it wasn’t purchased, we will not post the review without checking with you first. We will be honest in all our reviews and our focus will be on the book itself.

5: We try to be selective about fives, because we really want these books to stand out. A five, for us, is a book we finish and immediately need to tell someone else to read!

4: A very good read that we will recommend heartily.

3: All our reviews start here. A three is a good book. We liked it, but we didn’t love it. We also didn’t hate it. We think readers will enjoy it. Every book gets a three as we go into it and something needs to push us to the other ends of the spectrum.

2: It wasn’t terrible, but it was hard to get through or it just didn’t work. The problems outweighed what we liked and enjoyment was limited. We cannot recommend it, except to perhaps a specific crowd of readers.

1: We did not like it.

WE WILL NEVER POST A REVIEW OF A BOOK WE DID NOT FINISH. WE FEEL THAT IS UNETHICAL. IF WE DID NOT READ IT IN ITS ENTIRETY, WE DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPEAK TO ITS QUALITY OR ENJOYMENT.
